This is an OLD pattern!! While I was going through some of my Grandma's things, I found one slipper, at first I thought it was a little pouch. I really liked how compact and light it was so I set about trying to make myself a pair. I hope I'm not taking credit for someone's work, but it took me a week to figure it out, so I guess I get some credit! This is my first pattern I've ever posted so any questions/comments are appreciated!

NOTE: Please read the whole pattern first so you have a good idea of what you're doing. This pattern will fit size 7/8 foot. For a larger/smaller foot, I would add/decrease 4 stitches and rows to the pattern. Cast on 38 stitches using either the "provisional" cast on method (cast on using waste yarn to keep your stitches "live") or cast on the regular way (you will just need to pick up and knit your stitches after). Row 1: Knit 2, Purl 2 across Row 2: Purl 2, Knit 2 across (38 stitches) **For a quick fit check see step #2** Repeat for 38 rows. Now you have a rectangle in rib stitch.
NOTE: to quickly check if your slippers will fit, knit up about 4 inches of ribbing and give it a stretch on your needle. Place your needle up against your foot to make sure it will fit. They really stretch due to the ribbing.
For the rest of this side you will continue in garter stitch. Next row: K2tog, K2tog, all the way across (19 stitches) Knit 1 row even Next row: K2tog, knit 15, K2tog (17 st) Knit 1 row even Next row: K2tog, knit 13, K2tog (15 st) Knit 1 row even Continue to decrease every other row until there are 3 or 5 stitches left on needles (however wide you want your ties). Continue knitting garter stitch until your ties are approx. 5 or 6 inches long. K2tog, knit to end, turn Keep decreasing until there is 1 stitch left, bind off.
Turn your rectangle around and pick up and knit (which is really just "picking up") 38 stitches across from either your cast on edge or "live" stitches. Repeat the same as Step 3. K2tog across (19 stitches) knit even, etc...
Fold your rectangle in half and stitch up both sides of your slipper. Weave in ends. You can embellish the front with little ribbon roses or make tassles for the ties if you want. Nown try on your new slippers! Cute and easy!
