This collage was so much fun to put together! Grab some old book pages and a set of oil pastels, and whip up a super cool collage to frame or give as a gift. The materials for this project are really inexpensive, you could make a series of them to display.
This collage was so much fun to put together! Grab some old book pages and a set of oil pastels, and whip up a super cool collage to frame or give as a gift. The materials for this project are really inexpensive, you could make a series of them to display.
Flip through an old book and look for a cool illustration to base your collage around. Then cut out a large map and various other found papers from around the house.
Arrange the papers on the sheet of mixed media paper and move them around to figure out how you want to place them. Then glue everything down.
Once the glue dries, add text and artwork with the oil pastel. Oil pastel is really smudgy so you can smudge the designs in some parts, or even unify the background with a light layer of color. I also colored in the illustration with colored pencils.
Let the work sit overnight and then come back to it and see if there is anything else you would like to add. As a final step mist aerosol hairspray or sealant over the top to seal the collage.
