hi <3
this...this isnt gothic.
its great that youre actually trying, but give your face a few years to actually mature before you start putting make up on. ten is way to early.
That is NOT Lolita. Lolita is pretty well known to be dark, gothy doll makeup. I'm sorry, but when you're ten, makeup is hard as fuck. Wait a little while or ask your mom/dad/brother/sister/anyone you know who's good at makeup for help. They will probably give you great advice and help you choose better colours for your skin and make neater lines. Don't take it personally; nearly everyone who does makeup-y stuff at such a young age has a lot of trouble doing so and no idea that it.. does not look very nice.

No. No no, no no no. NO.
Neither sweet nor gothic. http://www.lolitafashion.org/
Please do some actual research on this style before labeling yourself or your makeup with it.
Also, be careful with your makeup. I thought I was awesome too when I wore makeup as a kid, but now, in retrospect, I realize I probably looked like a clown whore. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you can't wear makeup. So just be careful, and do it well. You can even wear makeup artistically without looking clownish.
I don't want to offend anyone. Nice try I certainly would have messed up at 10 >.< but it doesn't look lolita. Maybe if you aimed a being lolita for Halloween but you could say it's lolita inspired. You have potential though, you started at a young age which helps if you want to be a makeup artist in the future. 10-15 years of experience can help you succeed
This looks more like a clown . . . It might have looked almost kind of okay if it didn't have those big splotches of "blush" on your cheeks. It really didn't need that.
um, camilaustral, alot of lolitas would be very offended if they saw your comment. take me, for example. I'm a lolita
and Felecity, the lolita fashion actually dosen't have anything to do with the book. they just share a name. the fashion comes form japan and the word has a different meaning round there. thats why some people call it goth-loli, but this is not correct, especialy when adressing lolita as a whole.
It's a given that this makeup isn't lolita at all. It's what we'd call ita makeup. an ita is a person who attempts lolita but gets it horribly wromg.
for more deltailed info on lolitas, I'd reccomend shopping around EGL (http://community.livejournal.com/egl) and/or taking a look at this site: http://www.lolitafashion.org/
theyr'e both really informative if you use them right.
oh yeah, and if you wanna learn more about itas I like this post on F yeah lolita: http://www.fyeahlolita.com/2009/10/how-to-avoid-being-ita.html
hope this helps! I hope to post my own lolita makeup tutorila at some point!
This is disturbing to me for many reasons, the main one being the "lolita" look. Call me old fashioned but any child purposely trying to look like a lolita needs to actually read Lolita.
Ruth you would look much better if you wore a lightly tinted gloss and maybe curled your eyelashes. You are beautiful and have amazing skin right now. Take advantage of your youth and stop trying to hide behind goops of make-up. Trust me when you are older you will wish you still had the skin you do now.
Also I think as long as you don't wear this much make-up outside, it's nice to experiment and have fun. Be creative, and express yourself, just be picky about where you look "costumy"
Hi Ruth. You are very brave to attempt Lolita. My avatar is one of the Lolita looks I do. Play with high tied hair and flowers too. You have a cute face so keep it simple. If you smudge the blusher across your cheeks and put loose powder over the top it will make you cheeks stand out. You can make your eyes bigger by using a soft eyeliner to go out of the side of your eyes and using a softer smokey eye colour. Try more natural colours to keep the look young for you. Try not to wear make up too often though as it needs fresh air. It could cause lots of skin problems too and your skin will go through changes as you get older. Have fun though experimenting with your friends x
I love this. And Ruth dear, you're much more intelligent than most people that I know of your age. You have loads of potential. I agree with lolEffects. It's difficult to do research on Lolita and such, so everyone calm yourselves. I'd like to see the ten-year-old copies of yourselves do this. ;3
You guys just need to calm down. Besides she's just a ten year old, its not like she'll wear it everyday. When I was ten, I sucked at applying make up but its not like I ever wore it out in public. It was just something I did for fun. Maybe when she gets older her make up will improve and she will become the best make up artist on this website, you never know. I think this is cute for a first try.
I posted a comment earlier, I don't know if it went in so I am going to try to repost it and repeat it as well as I can remember. Here it goes...Ehem! Lol, I love this look. I think you did a wonderful job on creating the Lolita look. You did exactly what a true Lolita does. Every so often I go back over to Japan to visit my family over there, and when I'm there I like to hit the big cities to gather information and insperation. Whenever I go, I observe the Lolita fashion and other street wear. One thing that I see becoming more popular is the combination of Couture and Lolita. You captured this beautifully and I am amazed to say you kept it balanced. Its not too much and not too little. My favorite part about this look was the eyes. They were captivating in that they captured the wildness of couture yet mainained the elegance of Lolita. You kept the colour light and spread it in a manner that gives it a wild untamed look as seen in a Couture runway. The lips totally set the look and gave it a very ethereal glow. I loved it! Two thumbs up, and I wish I had you working backstage on makeup for my models back in December for my project. I would love to see what other techniques and styles you have.

I have to say, I love this! This will do beautifully as Lolita Couture and I would strongly suggest this one for my models. I designed clothing for a while and because my dad is from Japan, I model a lot of my stuff after my culture. I think it was well done. You captured the look of elegance yet maintained the wildness of Couture. The eyes are my favorite part of all this. The warm brown was highlighted by the shadow. What I loved about your approach was that you did not over do it. You balanced the normal Lolita and the Couture. In Japan they are fascinated with French and other European culture, so naturally couture is mixed in at times to create a hightened look.I give this two thumbs up! I would have loved to have had you as my make up artist for my line in December. Even I had trouble trying to do what you did in this project. ~~yoku dekimashita~~ ^__^ (that means well done!)
Good evening, Ruth! Thank you for sharing this! However - I'm really sorry to say, but... have you done any research on the Gothic Lolita look at all? As a real Lolita, I have to say that this makeup would probably land you in one of the Lolita wank communities if you tried to wear it for real.
The idea's to look like a pristine porcelain doll, and that means perfectly-applied, natural makeup; in other words, makeup to heighten one's natural beauty rather than make it costumey. Lolitas very much dislike the idea that we wear costumes, because what we wear are clothes just as much as any other alternative fashion. Makeup like this is a parody of our style and it offends many of us.
Mana might have worn blue lipstick, but I'm under the impression that most people are neither Mana nor visual kei artists. The eyeshadow is not very well-applied, I'm sorry to say, and having it /under/ the eyes makes you look a bit more like you splurged on coffee then stayed up all night than a primped little Victorian girl. I... sort of don't want to go into that blusher, but if you really must make two strange circles on your cheeks, please use a round powder-puff and cream blusher to get your outlines neat.
You're such a pretty girl, please don't make yourself look silly like this. D:
sorry i agree with godcomplex too. it looks more like a overlly done babys doll look.:/ now i want to make a visual kei, lolita, and decora makeup tetorial!;D
oh and plus godcomplex its your make up, not you're make up, because you're is a shortened version of you are, so u said to me you are makeup needs some work
Hi godcomplex the look was meant to have big rosy cheeks in a weird sort of way you wouldn't wear it out everyday it is more costume_y like camilaustral said

niche try tho.
I mean, good try, but you really shouldn't even be thinking about makeup.

(well, lolitas are a little costume-y too)
