I was looking around on the internet for Lolita dresses and was shocked at some of the prices. So, I made my own in less than a day! I am rather happy with the end result and this dress can be made in many fabrics and you could add lace or longer sleeves to change the mood of the garment.

Use a good fitting top from your wardrobe as a guide to cut out a bodice adding about two inches for the seams. Or if your up to it, make your own pattern.
Cut two sleeves (using your guide top) and add a little extra fabric to the top of the sleeve for gathers. Also, sew a black band at the bottom of the sleeve.
Sew in the zip, you may need someone to help you pin in the zip to get a good fit.
Add strips of fabric folded in box like pleats and sew around the edge of the neck line.
Cut out four skirts by taking your waist measurements and folding the material into four then cut the bottom of the skirt pieces in a curve when you unfold the fabric it should be like a circular shaped skirt.
Hem the remaining skirts and sew them on to the bodice.
