we had family move this year and i wanted to make their christmas gift also a housewarming type of gift too. some of our family live within walking distance of each other and it got me thinking about neighbors--and living close vs. not living close and then feeling close, etc. so from there came the drawing/gocco print and then a basic patchwork potholder from Lotta Jansdotter's gorgeous book "simple sewing". i love this book and had been dying to make these--but in my own way :) *you could omit the image/screenprinting part and just do another piece of cotton fabric as she does in the book. you could also embroider a simple design. *important--be sure to use wool or non-flammable batting NOT synthetic or polyester batting! *also--i didn't put any amounts but it's pretty small. i did all of mine using various scraps i already had making the project essentially free for me. *if you sew--this project is really easy!! and everyone just loved them, i would DEFINITELY make them again--they were a huge hit!
