My sister wanted to dress up as Gir for Halloween this year, but they don't seem to sell the costume ANYwhere, so I thought I'd make my own. I was a bit low on cash, so I had to improvise--It took 4 baby blankets from the 99 Cents Only store, some black fabric and fiberfill from a thrift store, a zipper I had, and some cardboard and duct tape. Some trial and error and a couple of weeks later, this is what I came up with. I didn't have a pattern, so I used a baggy sweatshirt my sister had to make a pattern with some modifications out of tissue paper. Now that it's done, I should have modified the hood to make a boxier shape. Maybe a wrap around hood part and a square top next time? Not bad for my first try, but I think it looks like a toad. =( The time it took was a few weeks, but I put down 15 hours because I wasn't working on it around the clock. =)
