Whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt and spices in a large mixing bowl.
Mix together the butter, sugar, treacle, eggs and water in a second bowl and then combine with the flour mixture to form a thick dough. Cool in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Print out the tube train templates above on to thick card and cut them out.
Roll out the gingerbread dough with a rolling pin so that it's about 1cm thick and use your templates to cut out the shapes.
Carefully cut out and remove the windows.
Use a knife to score the door the frames.
Bake in an oven for 15 minutes at 180'C and leave to cool.
Dissolve the sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan of water over a medium heat.
Boil until the temperature reaches 310'F then remove from the heat.
Place the gingerbread sides of your train on a tray covered in tinfoil and spoon the candy mixture in to the windows and leave to harden and cool.
It's construction time. Mix up a batch of royal icing by combining two egg whites with icing sugar until it forms a thick paste. Ice the bottom of the sides and ends of your train and stick in place on a cake board.
Ice the edges together and leave the icing to set.
Decorate some gingerbread commuters for the inside of the train.
Place the commuters and lights inside the carriage and then attach the roof beams with more icing. Coat the top of the beams with more icing and spread to an even consistency.
Cover the entire roof in strips of black liquorice.
Use masking and edible blue lustre to paint the panels along the bottom of the train.
Tape of the windows and edges to paint the doors red.
Gather some white chocolate buttons to make roundels.
Ice the edges and loop with a length of red liquorice lace.
Cut a strip of black liquorice.
Spray with edible lustre.
Attach the roundel to the side of the train with the blue liquorice through the middle.
