If you do this I would use actual Reeses Peanut Butter in the recipie. I found the best place and price here : http://peanutbutterreeses.com/
I love this recipie and will be cooking this later
I made this for my dad's birthday. To him, it taste like a Resse's cup. To my mom, it taste like a peanut butter whatchamacallit candy bar. And finally to me, it taste like a buckeye ball.
I used 1 cup of confectioner's sugar. Don't even use 3-4, it will be a mess, like Meghan said. I did use more peanut butter, which caused me to add more crackers, sugar and butter, but only a tiny bit.
If you want a really rich, good whatever, than make this. I don't like peanut butter, actually I hate it and the smell, but this wasn't so bad.
Personally I would pass on using milk at all because once you add liquid to chocolate it seizes, hence them adding shortening to fix it. I'd just melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
lol. Gotta love those munchies. But i appreciate you giving suggestions on what to do. I only made this once and of course, nothing works out the first time. My mom is on a diet so i won't be making this again for quite some time. THANKS EVERYONE FOR FAVORING AND ATTEMPTING THIS.
if you make this... 4 cups of sugar is crazyyy lol. me and my sis ran into a mess and the peanut butter wouldn't stick together, so you might want to only use 1-2 cups. lol Twizzy you must have major munchies :3
So I made this today for my boyf on valentine's day.
Here are my suggestions:
-Use 1/2 cup milk per batch of the chocolate.
-Also I recommend that you use a mixer for the chocolate as the shortening caused lumps in my batch.
-I used wax paper instead of parchment, and to speed up the chill time I put mine in the freezer, which seemed to work fine.
-I also used 5-6 tablespoons of peanut butter and only 1 cup of confection sugar (why the orignal recipe calls for so much is beyond me)
-Also I didn't use milk chocolate, but think it will be fine with semi-sweet
*Biggest thumbs down: lumps of shortening.
*Bigguest thumbs up: pretty easy to do
I'm making this for my husband tonight! ... I'll post my version, and let you know how it turns out ... Hmm, I don't know if I'm going to use milk or not... it may be too hard to eat without it...
This is a great recipe! I did make some modifications though (and actually took the care to measure them) so hopefully this will help someone:
-I used 1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk in the chocolate mixture - it helps if it is a bit liquidy (it's easier to pour/spread).
-I used about 7-8 tablespoons of peanut butter and only 1 cup of confectioners' sugar. Just make sure it's all mixed in very, very well. (And she's right - it really tastes like the Reese's filling!)
...and everything else I kept the same. Sorry for the super-long post!
Hi - I am from England and wondering what Graham;s Crackers are! Really want to make this so am thinking of an alternative... any help would be appreciated! hehe
For anyone who is having a problem. Im sorry, i tried to explain it the best i could. If you have more problems with this please email me so i can discus the issue. Everything in the explanation are things i did and it seemed to work just fine for me.
This is a cool idea..but the recipe is definitely off. You need to use way less powdered sugar or way more peanut butter. I would give more exact measurements except to get it right I just kept haphazardly adding peanut butter until it worked.
I totally did this for my teacher. We did secret pals in our journalism classes and I made her one with caramel, because she didn't like peanut butter. Everyone loved it :]
I have a friend who absolutely obsessed with Reeses, and i'm sure she'll love this as part of her sweet 16 gift! However, I am currently making it right now and have come across a few problems.
First, I spent about 45 minutes on step 2 trying to get the parchment paper to fit in my tin and to get the edges right. It was a very hard to do, and i wish you could have provided more instructions than measuring a diameter and using a small wooden stick. I ended up just using my hands.
Also, i could not get the peanut butter filling to work. After about 30 minutes of mixing i decided there was no possible way i was going to get anywhere with only 4 tablespoons of peanut butter and 4 cups of powdered sugar. It just looked like clumpy powdered sugar. It wasn't until i added about 7 or 8 more heaping tablespoons of peanut butter did i actually start to get somethng a bit more dough-like. But it did taste a whole lot like real Reeses butter!
Also, it takes a bit longer than 2.5 hours as you've stated above. Thank you for putting up this project, it really is wonderful! Though i don't think i am going to have another Reeses for a long time. ;]
OMG... THIS IS AN AMAZING GIFT! THIS IS AWESOME... I want to hug you! lol. I'm incredibly poor, and this is a really cute and easy gift to give to others. Thanks for the how to. I would have never thought of graham crackers or shortening! Crazy!

You did a good job with this one
I have a question, is the chocolate parts hard? or is it soft enough to use like a plastic fork on ?
