Instructions

  1. Cutting Instructions From each fat quarter cut 4 x  8.5” squares.  This will give you 40 patterned squares. Cut 10 8.5” strips of fabric from the background fabric and subcut each of those strips into 4 8.5” squares.  This will give you 40 background squares.

    Assembly Instructions Draw a centre diagonal line on each background square.  This will become your cut line.

    Draw a dashed line one quarter inch away from your cut line on either side of it.  These two lines will become your sewing lines.


  4. With right sides together place marked background square on top of print fabric square.

    Sew along each marked sewing line.

    Cut each square in half along the cut line, creating 2 half square triangle units.

  7. Press the triangles with the seams going towards the patterned fabric.

    Arrange the triangles to form giant chevrons according to the diagram or your own design.  Note:  each chevron is made of 4 half square triangle units of the same fabric.

  9. Sew the squares into 8 rows being careful to keep the squares in the correct order.  Press all the seams in the first, third, fifth and seventh rows to the left.  Press all the seams in the alternating rows to the right.

  10. Sew the 8 rows together to form the quilt top.

  11. Quilt as desired and bind.
