This is a giant burger me and my boyfriend made :D it should serve about 6 people. We used a windmill loaf which is handy since the portions sizes are basically baked in :) Hope you all enjoy :D We chose to fill ours to replicate a dish I've had in Turkey previously. But you can choose to leave the filling out or replace it with other ingredients. Or you could even mix them into the meat mixture. Sorry that I don't have many photos :( Note: if you are not filling your burger then leave out step 2 and pat the whole meat mixture into the pan and cook to your liking on a medium heat.

Instructions

  1. Small photo 6

Prepare your ingredients. Place the minced meat, chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, herbs, salt and pepper, chilli and any other ingredients you wish to add in a large mixing bowl. Using your hands or a large spoon combine the ingredients until well distributed. Heat a large frying pan or griddle.

Whilst the pan is heating prepare your filling ingredients. Chop and slice the bacon and mushroom and fry in oil until mushrooms are cooked and bacon is crispy. Next divide the mince into two. Take the first half and pat it onto the pan being VERY CAREFUL!! You could use a spatula if you wish. Pat it to about an inch or two bigger than you want it because it will shrink when cooking. Once the underside is cooked flip it over and the filling and 1 or 2 slices of cheese. Then take the second half of the meat mixture and pat it on top, sealing the edges to contain the filling. Once the underside is cooked, carefully flip the burger and cook to liking. (we filled ours a weird awkward way and decided the way I've written makes more sense :P )

Whilst your burger is cooking slice you bun/ roll/ loaf. Get your left over cheese. Shred your lettuce and slice your tomatoes. If you like you could grill your tomatoes too :)

Finally once your burger is cooked and has rested for a few minutes then go ahead and assemble and enjoy your monster of tasty goodness :D
