Geometric Paint + Glitter Pendants

modern wooden pendants with a touch of sparkle

About

This a really neat little project because after making one, you won't want to stop. Lots of different designs are easy to come up with, too. The wood background looks really stylish with all different color combinations, and the glitter adds a little sparkle.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Wooden Disc
  • Craft Paint
  • Matte Mod Podge
  • Fine Glitter

Steps (6 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

Get your supplies together. You will need wooden discs (these are 1.5"), craft paint, matte mod podge, painters tape, fine glitter, jewelry bails, strong multi-use glue, and paintbrushes.

  2. 2

Mark off the first area you want to paint with tape. Press along the edge of the tape with your finger to make sure it's all stuck down to get a clean line. Paint the section; it might take two or three coats. Let dry then remove tape.

  3. 3

Start your second color section by taping over what you just painted. Then add more pieces of tape to make your next shape. Paint; remove tape. (I'm pretty sure you could all figure out how to do all this....but I just wanted to share a step-by-step to show the whole process)

  4. 4

Tape off your glitter section completely. Apply Mod Podge and shake on glitter. Once it's all set and tape-free, paint over the whole thing with Mod Podge to keep the glitter in place. To avoid spreading the glitter over the whole pendant, I covered the painted areas first, then dabbed Mod Podge over the glitter section.

  5. 5

When completely dry, glue bail to the back of pendant. Let dry and string your necklace.

  6. 6

Let glue dry and set completely then string your necklace.
