I've seen so much galaxy print and so many Peter Pan collar-style necklaces around the internet lately that I couldn't resist the urge to combine the two. I usually prefer not to use leather when I can use faux leather instead, but I had a big bag of leather scraps that my dad had lying about that I wanted to use, so they don't go to waste. :)

Cut out your two collar pieces from your leather/faux leather, using either your own pattern or one printed from the internet.
Paint a black base coat onto your collar pieces(Mine was already dark brown, but I painted black over it).
Make holes in your collar pieces. I used a 2mm punch. Make one hole at the front (to join the pieces) and one hole at the back (to add the chain) of each collar piece.
Take a sponge (I used a piece of a kitchen sponge)and dab white paint onto the collar pieces.
Add other colours of paint to the collar, slowly building up and mixing colours until you're happy with the look of your galaxy. Google images of galaxies to help you.
Add a few white dots for stars.
Add a layer of modge podge to finish off.
Add a jump ring to the centre, through the holes, to join the two collar pieces.
Add a jump ring and lobster clasp to the back of the one side.
Add a jump ring and chain to the back of the other side.
