Instructions

  1. Small 5194

Start with a square of cloth. I almost always use this silk scarf that was given to me ages ago, but have also used leftover fabric squares, banadanas, and cloth napkins.

  2. Small 5195

Fold a triangle. This is where having a very square cloth comes in handy! If there's a "right" side to your fabric, fold it wrong-side-out for now.

  3. Small 5196

bring the tips of the long side up to the top of your triangle. This does not have to be exact by any means!

  4. Small 5197

roll each of your tips into a rope down to where the last stage of folds began. This is hard to explain and I hope the picture helps! Basically you're just twirling until you get about halfway down.

  5. Small 5198

tie a knot at the base of the tail you just twirled. again, I hope the picture helps. Do the same on the other side.

  6. Small 5199

I can't take enough pictures to explain this step. Bring the two tails together and flip the whole thing inside out so that the tails tuck inside. Tie the two remaining corners into a square knot at their tips. Shaking it a little will help the bag take shape.

  7. Small 5200

You're done! What can you carry in your stylish new bag? How about all of this?

  8. Small 5201

Yup! It all fits! Imagine how many groceries you could carry without ever using a plastic bag again!
