At the back I attached a few elastic bands to make it fit. Elastic is fantastic! Every dress fits and you don't need annoying zippers or buttons. We start with the lowest part: a skirt with pockets and a waist band. Below I will explain how to fix it. When I talk about fabric I always mean 'double-sided' fabric: a layer of nice fabric and a layer of lining on top of eachother.
For the skirt, simply take two rectangular pieces of fabric and sew the two sides. The size of the skirt should be a bit larger than you need, because you will attach elastic band later. Make the width about 10% larger than your actual size. At the front, you can attach pockets if you like. This part is difficult to describe... I did it with trial and error. Use your imagination or leave it out :-)
Now adjust the waist band, that also consists of two rectangular pieces of fabric. It should have the same width as your skirt. At the front you can make two or more pleats in the skirt when you sew it onto the waist band, if you like. If you do so, make the waist band a bit smaller than the skirt.
Zoom the end of the skirt to finish it. Now you can also zigzag all sews on the inside.
This is the upper part. It consists of three parts: the back and two pieces in front. See also the next picture for the two front pieces. The sizes are a bit trial and error... For the above side of the backpiece, just measure from end of shoulder to end of shoulder and add about 10% of that, to create a small sleeve. The below part of the three pieces together should be as wide as the waistband you made, so slightly wider than your actual waist. For the height, measure from shoulder to below your breasts (and add some space to sew and zoom!).
Here you can see the two sews at the left and right side below: these are the sews below your armpit. Also sew the pieces together at the right en left side above: here are your shoulders. Leave a 'hole' for your head.
Now attach the upper part to the waist band. At the front side I made some pleats into the upper pieces when I attached it onto the waist band, to make room for my breasts, but this depends on your cup size :-) To finish it, I sewed the lining and the fabric onto each other, with the endings folded inside.
The best part: at the inside of the backside of the waistband we now attach elastic band. You might want to practice this part, because it is a bit strange at first. Take a piece of elastic band with the length of the back side of your waist (hope you understand this sentence.. :p) and adjust the beginning onto your fabric. Measure the length of the backside of your waistband and place a dot with a marker halfway the length, to remember when you are halfway. Do the same for the piece of elastic band: mark a point halfway the piece. Now you can pull the elastic band in such a way that the two marked points coincide! (If someone has a better way of doing this, I'd like to hear it :-) ) Do this three times, spread over the band.
