You do not have to use the nail polish I used, I only added the names and colors, because most of them are still easy to find at the drug store (Rite Aid, Walgreens). I'm not being paid to advertize Wet'n'Wild products (believe me, they'd probably be ashamed of this anyway.. lol) I just really love the colors, color names and prices. Here are the colors I used, in picture 3:
Shown here are:
-Sally Hansen clear coat
-Sinful Colors Nail Art "Bad Chick" (White)
-Wet'n'Wild Megalast 207A "Bite the Bullet"
-Wet'n'Wild Fastdry 233C "How I Met Your Magenta"

Here are the colors I used in picture 4:
Shown here are:
-Sinful Colors 951 "Why Not"
-Wet'n'Wild Fastdry 231C "Buffy The Violet Slayer"
-Wet'n'Wild Fastdry 234C "Hannah Pinktana"
-Sinful Colors 841 "Daddy's Girl"

--- All the nail polish I used was on sale, because these brands have amazing sales (Up to 70% off sometimes!!) I paid no more than $8.00 for everything. So, I'll end my rambling and get to the how to part:

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Nail Polish
  • Time
  • Striping Brush Optional
  • Skills

Steps (6 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

*SORRY FOR THE TERRIBLE PICTURES* Start with clean nails.
Paint a clear coat, let dry. Once dried, lightly make your dividing line using a white or very light guiding color. I used a white nail art polish with built in striper. This line could be vertically, horizontally, curvy, zigzag, whatever, go crazy! I did mine opposite corners.

  2. 2

I then used the pink/magenta (How I Met Your Magenta) to fill in the space I wanted solid pink. I used two coats because it was thin. Then I used a light purple (Bite The Bullet) to fill in the background of the leopard print part. Pretty simple so far.

  3. 3

Using a very bright blue (Why Not), I made random odd shaped dots with a toothpick (A small tool would work great here too!), to make the center of the leopard print... You can do whatever you want here, zebra print, stripes, glitter, be unique!

  4. 4

Here, I used a dark shimmery purple (Buffy The Violet Slayer), to make the outer parts around the bright blue to create the leopard print. *rawr* - I used a toothpick for this too. If you're not as ambidextrous as I am, you could have a friend do this, or do it on fake nails too. I'm a HUGE fan of fake nails!!

  5. 5

I then used an even darker glittery purple (Daddy's Girl) to go over the divided part between the plain pink and print. If you have a striping brush, then great, but if not, then a steady hand, a toothpick and time will be just as effective.

  6. 6

I used a light glittery purple (Hannah Pinktana) to go over the animal print only.
And finally another clear coat over the whole nail.

I might add some big pieces of glitter or something to it. If I do, I'll try to get a picture of it. Thank you for reading, hope you enjoy this fun funky half glittery leopard print nail design, feel free to leave questions and come up with your own versions! I also did a version with greens and blues, but that was years ago. I'm about to get the nail polish remover out and clean up around my nails, because Geez, that mess is embarassing! lol later!
