Start by mixing together the flour, salt and butter with your fingers. Crumbling together the flour and butter until there are no big lumps left.
Pour in the milk and mix in to a thick dough.
Chop the dried fruit in to nice little pieces.
Mix the fruit in to the dough.
Knead the dough for a little while.
Roll out the dough so that it's about 1/2" thick.
Cut out your scones.
Place on a greased baking tray.
Whisk together an egg with some salt and brush the tops of the scones.
Bake in an oven set for 20 minutes at 220'C.
Leave to cool.
Serve with clotted cream and jam. Which order do you spread yours on in?
