Unlike its neighbor, this shirt is decorative and looks a bit Victorian... or retro... Whatever, it will change the vibe of an outfit. In charcoal with a dobby stripe, there’s a mannish air about it—its appeal lies in not being too sweet.

You Will Need (2 things)

  • Fabric – pre-dyed dobby Panama stripe 44 in (110cm) wide x 15⁄8 yd (1.4m)
  • Iron-on Interfacing – 24 in (60cm) x 24 in (30cm) Buttons – 6 at 1⁄2 in or 5⁄8 in (1.4cm) diameter

Steps (10 steps, 300 minutes)

    Cutting layout
    Figures inside brackets show seam allowances.
    Where not indicated, allow  in (1cm).
    *ron interfacing on to front right placket, front left edge and inner collar

  2. 2

    Create front and back darts

  3. 3

    Create frill

  4. 4

    Finish off front placket

  5. 5

    Sew shoulder seams

  6. 6

    Attach collar

  7. 7

    Sew side seams

  8. 8

    Attach frill to neck opening

  9. 9

    Sew hem

  10. 10

    Create buttonholes and attach buttons.
