This is a birthday cake I made for my son. It is a wee bit fiddly to make the boot. The cake itself can just be plain. No need to add the food colouring to the mixture. You could put any type of football decorations on it.
This is a birthday cake I made for my son. It is a wee bit fiddly to make the boot. The cake itself can just be plain. No need to add the food colouring to the mixture. You could put any type of football decorations on it.
Heat oven 170 degrees. Beat butter, oil & sugar together until pale.
Sift flours & salt together.
Combine buttermilk, sour cream, eggs & vanilla together.
Add eggs one at a time. Add 1/2 the buttermilk mixture to the sugar mixture. Combine.
Add 1/2 the flour mixture to above. Combine.
Add the remaining buttermilk & combine.
Add the remaining flour & combine.
Combine the Bicarb & vinegar together.
Add Bicarb to the other ingredients & combine.
Remove 1/2 the mixture to another bowl. Add the food colouring & combine.
Pour the cake mixture into the tins alternate the colours.
Bake for 30 mins or until cooked through. Remove from oven & cool completely.
Make up the icing or use store bought.
Cut the cakes in half & layer with butter icing.
Coat the outside of the cake with green butter icing. Let set for a few mins.
Re coat the cake with more green butter icing. Allow to set.
Decorate the top of the cake using a grass tip nozzle. Cover the full top of the cake using this pattern.
Pipe around the base of the cake also.
Make a banner & football boot to top the cake off. Attach to the cake.
