Cut Out + Keep

Flowery Hairpins!

Like daises in your hair, but more glamorous and long-lasting!

I bought a posie of 'paper' fake flowers and decided to make them into hairpins. I've always admire the floral, carefree 'daisies-in-her-hair' look, but my hair doesn't like things being put in it! Plus, these flowers never rot, unlike daisies. A little dab of wire and glue later, and I've got some lovely flowery substitutes. (the wire is the flowers' "stems", and the glue is to stop the pointy-pointu wire hurting your head. XD) -- I made a bunch, and having road-tested these, I think I'll be selling the surplus at my upcoming craft fairs.

Instructions

  1. Small bobby pins 0609 de

First, you need to gather some pins. (Forgive my use of the stock image, mine was awful!) You only need flower per pin, so in my case, I gathered the flowers and then used some pins lying around the house.

  2. Small wedding flower bouquet roses

Then, you need to get your fake flowers. I wouldn't recommend large roses (sorry again for the stock images!) but a posy of flowers with wire stems is ideal.

  3. Once you've separated the flowers from each other, start to wrap the flowers' wire 'stem' around the bobby pin. You don't have to use all of the wire up! You don't want to end up with a big ball of wire. Cut off any excess.

  4. Small safety

Now, here's the safe part! We don't want the pointy wire to hurt our head, so we're going to envelop it in a big blob of PVA glue. This will dry clear, and instead of a pointy end we will have a smooth blob. Also, the PVA glue will stop the wire working itself loose and will secure it! Yay!

  5. Leave to dry, and then enjoy!
