Steps (22 steps, 300 minutes)
-
1
Thread a beading needle
with a workable length of
thread and string 4 Sz 11 Yellow
Seed beads on.
Tie the thread in a double
knot about 5” from the end to
bring the beads into a circle. -
2
Thread your needle
through the next bead to the
knot to ensure your thread is
coming out of a bead ready to
start. -
3
Thread on another 3 beads
and sew back through the back
of the bead your thread has just
left. Pull in tight -
4
Thread through the next
two beads so that your thread
exits out of the top bead ready
to start again.
This is called Right Angle
Weave Stitch. -
5
Repeat Steps 3 & 4 until
your strip of beads wrap around
the Cabochon. -
6
Fold your work into a loop.
Pick up one bead then thread
through the very first bead on
the strip, add another bead
then sew through the back of
the bead your thread has just
come out of to bring the edges
together. -
7
Fold your work into a loop.
Pick up one bead then thread
through the very first bead on
the strip, add another bead
then sew through the back of
the bead your thread has just
come out of to bring the edges
together. -
8
When you get to the end
thread through the next TWO
beads, this is called a STEP UP
and will take your thread up
ready for the next row. Add
another row exactly the same
on top. -
9
Add another two rows in
the same way but this time
using Sz 15 Seed Beads, this will
pull the edge in so it will hug
your Cabochon. -
10
Insert your Cabochon,
face down into your beaded
frame and thread your needle
through to the back of the
beaded frame and repeat
from Step 7. -
11
Add two extra rows of Sz
15 beads to make the back
more secure, pull your thread
tight and half hitch knot a few
times to secure by making a
loop and threading through it
before pulling tight.. -
12
Thread your needle
through the beads until you
exit the very centre bead on
the edge of the frame, this
one should be easy to spot as
it lays the opposite way to the
other ones. -
13
Working on this row of
centre beads only, thread on 13
Sz 8 Seed Beads and missing out
the next bead in the row thread
through the second one.
Always sew from front to back
so your petal crosses the centre
strip. -
14
Work all the way round
until the petals meet then
thread into the alternate bead
in the centre of the next petal. -
15
Work a row the same as
Step 13 but this time using 15 Sz
11 Iris Purple Seed Beads Make
sure they lay in-between the
previous petals. Secure the end
by a half hitch knot and sew in
the ends of the thread. -
16
Take a 50cm Length of
Tigertail and thread on a crimp
bead, thread through one loop
on the Toggle Clasp and back
through the crimp bead,
leaving a 7cm tail. -
17
Squash the crimp bead
tight onto the wire close to the
clasp using Crimping or Flat
Nose Pliers. -
18
Thread on 19cm of Sz 8
seed beads, then pass the
tigertail through the beaded
frame at the back of the
Cabochon to exit at the other
side in the same position.
Thread on another 19cm of
seed beads. -
19
Thread on a crimp bead,
then pass the tigertail through a
loop on the Toggle Bar, then
back through the crimp bead
and a few centimetres of seed
beads, pull the thread up tight
and squash the crimp bead in
place. -
20
Repeat Steps 16 & 17
with the second loop in the
clasp. -
21
Thread on 21cm of Sz 11
Iris Purple Seed Beads, then
pass the wire through the frame
as before but slightly lower than
the previous strand. Thread on
another 21cm of seed beads
then finish the same way as in
Step 19. -
