For this project you can use artificial or real flowers, altough this tute showcases artificial calla lillies. I made a bunch of these for the groomsmen, fathers and usehers in my wedding but they can be easily constructed for any occasion, your imagination is the limit!! WWEEEEEEE!!!
For this project you can use artificial or real flowers, altough this tute showcases artificial calla lillies. I made a bunch of these for the groomsmen, fathers and usehers in my wedding but they can be easily constructed for any occasion, your imagination is the limit!! WWEEEEEEE!!!
First gather your supplies, I used calla lillies that are kind of waxy so they resemble real lillies. This is where your imagination is your only limitation.
Prep your flowers by cutting down the stem with the wire cutters or heavy duty floral cutters to your desired level. I left about two incehes as the finished product was very simple.
Select your greenery (in the photo I chose long artificial wheat grass) and hold in position with one hand. With other hand begin about 1/4 in. from bottom of flower and wind the floral wire around. To help speed this along I had pre-cut my wire to 4 in. lengths.
Take your floral tape and begin at the top close to the flower. Tightly Wind, wind, wind all the way down and back up. The heat from your hands "binds" the tape to itself. I made several passes up and down the stem to get a nice, cushy feel. Make sure you wind some of the tape over the bottom of the flower to give the boutineer a professional finish.
I extended the floral tape past the bottom of the stem and pinched it to a point. The simple designs really popped on the black tuxes and i paid less than $10 for a dozen. Good Luck!
