When Blueberry Cove Beads sent me their Caribbean Beach Bar bead box to play with, I couldn't resist putting a British seaside twist on a necklace with newspaper, chip forks and butting!

You Will Need (15 things)

  • 6 Round Beads
  • 5 Wood triangles
  • 2 Chip Forks
  • Newspaper
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • Foam Brush
  • Glue
  • Cutting Knife
  • Black permanent Pen
  • Jewellery Wire
  • Jewellery Pliers
  • 6 Mini Fish Metal Beads
  • Wire Cutters
  • Necklace Chain

Steps (18 steps, 35 minutes)

  1. 1

Gather your supplies. You need some small wood triangles with little holes in the corners - I found mine at the craft store but you could easily make your own. You'll also need some newspaper, chip forks which you can get from your local chip shop, some beads and tiny metal fish which I got in the Caribbean Beach Bar bead box from Blueberry Cove Beads.

  2. 2

Start by cutting triangles of newspaper to match the size of your triangles.

  3. 3

I decided to alternate my design my having some wit striped newspaper print and some with the whole area covered in newspaper.

  4. 4

Use a foam brush to coat the triangles in Mod Podge, place the newspaper designs on top.

  5. 5

Coat with another layer of Mod Podge and leave to dry.

  6. 6

Once dry, plan out the design for your necklace by laying the metal fish on the striped newspaper triangles and chip forks on the solid newspaper triangles. When you're happy with the design, glue each bead and fork in place, cut off the edge of the chip fork that hangs over and leave to dry.

  7. 7

Use a cutting knife to cut a small rectangle in the style of a chip out of the newspaper to look like it's skewered on the fork.

  8. 8

Scrape away the newspaper from the middle of the rectangles.

  9. 9

Use a fine black pen to trace around the outline of the chips and chip forks. Draw small rectangles in between the newspaper stripes to look like chips.

  10. 10

Gather some thin wire, jewellery pliers, a wire cutter and your beads.

  11. 11

Cut a short length of wire and take your first two triangles and a bead.

  12. 12

Slip the wire through the hole of one triangle and twist the ends together to secure.

  13. 13

Slip the bead onto the wire and then slip the wire through a hole on the second triangle. Twist the ends of the wire to secure, trim with the wire cutter and slip the sharp wire edges inside the bead.

  14. 14

Continue this until you've added all of your triangles. Cut another length of wire and take another bead.

  15. 15

Slip the wire through the first hole of the triangles, slip a bead on and twist the wire together along the remaining length.

  16. 16

Hoop the twisted wire back on itself to create a small loop, twist to secure, trim and slip the end of the wire inside the bead.

  17. 17

    Repeat at the final side.

  18. 18

Attach to a necklace chain and wear to the seaside.
