An easy felt poppy that can be warn as a broach, hair band or attached to anything to add a little elegance
Collect your felt, I used two types of red for this but one is fine.
I haven't added any templates to this because i didn't make any speciel ones. They are just two wobaly circles, one cut in half then trimmed to your liking. Cut out the felt and set aside the half pieces
Cut into the middle of the round felt peice and make a cone shape Sew small but tight stiched along the inside join.
i pleated the edge pettles to add a bit of texture, but this step is optional
Pin your pettles into place,I like to alternate the hight in each layer. I also trimmed them until I was happy with the shape Again try and do small but tight stiched. The stitched on the outside will be hidden by the next layer so don't worry about making it messy there.
Now for the last pettle, take the larger template and cut it on the fold.
I cut a bit off, just so the shape was more defined, sew it behind the rest of the poppy
Next draw a leaf shape onto a doubled over peice of green felt.
sew the flat ends of the leaves together, this just means you don't have to pin them together when you sew them onto the flower
Set the flower and leaf aside. Cut out a round(ish) peice of black felt and sew black beads onto it. I tryed to used the same size beads, and then add three or four larger ones over the top
Sew the leaf on first and then the centre. When you sew the centre on also sew on the pin/broach clasp on If you are making a hair band, cut a peice of red felt out. Hold the hair band into position and glue gun the round felt peice over the top GLUE GUNS ARE HOT, BE CAREFULL!
