Specifically this piece (http://www.armorjewelry.com/shop/ume/). It's pretty pricy so I made my own. The original uses heavier chains which means that it sits better as the smaller chains do not pull the neck piece off to the side but I can live with that. I'm sorry that there are no pictures. I got too wrapped up in making it and a lot of making it required the use of two hands, but if you understand the very basics of jewellery making then it is easy to do. In fact even if you don't understand the basics you can do it. All you need to know how to do is how to join two elements of the piece together using jump rings. Which is very simple, if you don't know how just search for it using your preferred search engine.

They're inspired by these studded Dr.Martens I wanted, but they cost $300 (holy crap)!!! So I took these cheap pleather boots I had from HotTopic, and glued studs to them instead. You could also glue/sew these on other shoes too.. like flats, converse, Vans, etc.!!!
E6000 is pretty strong & flexible when dry, so it's safer to use on things that bend/move. To be safe I wouldn't wear these in extreme conditions though. If you hit them hard enough, you can break them off ...but you can just glue them back on again! ;)

Fox Tail...Out Of Yarn?

Animal tails (foxes, raccoons, wolves mainly) are becoming a new fashion statement. But not everyone is okay with harming one of their furry friends for fashion. And fake fur fabric always looks lame to me. Here's a way to make a realistic looking tail without killing~!

Note, it has to be 100% ACRYLIC YARN or else this won't work. That's because stuff like cotton yarn will brush out as soon as you start brushing.

This is an easy process, but it takes a loooonnggg time. If it's a tiny little tail for a keychain like the one I made it'll only take a few hours. But if it's super long like for a big scarf, it'll take much longer. The long white and orange one I made for a pokemon costume took about 3 days of solid work. Also get creative with this. You can make keychains, tails, phone charms, scarfs, anything!

Note: I added a bunch of steps just to kinda keep people from being lost. It's much easier

(I originally got the idea from Bir's yarn tail tutorial. But I altered the process a bit to make it quicker.)

I could've choked when I saw the $498 price tag. So, I decided to have a go at making it myself. I'll have a how-to on it soon!

It took a few days (about 5 days) because I kept taking it apart and redoing it so I could get it to look like the picture. I think I managed to get pretty close to the real thing. I used the one color fabric as opposed to the contrast they used. I like it better all one color anyway. I also lined it with a fun white and yellow strip material (courtesy of a recycled shirt). It has patch pocket and a zip pocket on the inside as well.

What do you think?

The how-to has a lot of steps but hopefully you will like the outcome. I am excited to see your different versions!

It´s made of stretch cotton fabric with printed stripes.
I made the pattern myself from a basic top pattern. Originally, it should be a dress with a lapel collar as a neckholder, well, it didn´t work and i cut off the top to make a skirt out of the rest! maybe i try the dress another time... and i´m thinking of reshape the skirt to a more pencil-like look...

Floral Headband

A dainty accessory perfect for spring

I meant to post this quite a while ago, had I not left my laptop behind over the holidays I would have had it done much sooner. Alas, there is nothing to be gained thinking of what could have been. This project was sparked into existence when I stumbled upon the loveliest little flowers in a small haberdashery in Staines. I'd gone with the student newspaper team for a trip the the nearest amusement park, spending most of the day on the teacups with a good friend of mine. We left a little early and took the shuttle back to the train station, and were it not for my stupidity and our getting off at the wrong stop we would have never found this treasure. Little mistakes are sometimes magical.

Ah, back to the tutorial!
The only materials needed are flowers, as the flowers I used have long wire stems. If you are using flowers without stems (pound shops are good for finding cheap plastic flowers), find some low gauge wire which you could cover in green ribbon once the headband is done or paint green if that suits you better. Alternately, the flowers could be attached to an existing headband, if you wish to take the easiest route.

I made these pants after realizing that an overwhelming amount of the pants in the tribal belly dancing community are hideous. I loved the garter look on some of the pants, but hated the slit down the side of the lower leg of all of the standard tribal pants.

What I did was buy some volleyball shorts, and then drafted my own pattern for the thigh-high leggings.

The flow of the fabric is superb, and compliments my dance. It also looks cool as hell. ;D

What it's made of:

2 layers off-white linen lining, and print sun-moon fabric outer. 6 rigilene bones along seams, 32 zip ties supporting throughout. 32 eyelets for lacing in tight.

How it holds up:

This is the second corset I've made this way. It's held up fine so far, and gives me a dramatic 2 1/2 inch to 3 inch reduction.

When the dress arrived it was covered in playboy bunnies. I took off all the bunnies and added bows with gems in the center. There was a bedazzled bunny on the breast so I made a stuffed sheep pin to go over it. it was also too big so i had to add some ribbon in the back of the dress where it clasped together so I could tie it instead. I made the cape by pretty much winging it. I cut a few slits along the neck line to run ribbon through to help the hooded look. I also added sheep ears to give the appearance that I had skinned a sheep.

so, i decided to make my own version of the skirt.
i bought two shirts with newspaper print, cut out stripes, dyed them with coffee and gathered them. Than i sewed on lace trim.
The yoke is made of black twill. The shape reminds of a garter :)
i sewed on eyelet tape on the outside and inside. You can close them with a clasp for (a little) gathering.

edit how-to: i didn´t take photos while i made this skirt, but i did my very best in illustrator to draw the pattern roughly. It isn´t the original size, but i made some measurements for orientation!!!!
i know i´m definitely not the best in explaining things, if you try to make the skirt anyway and don´t get it ask me and i´ll try to explain it until you can wear it!!!

edit 07.09.2010: attachment function works, so i uploaded the illustrations again... yes, i know i didn´t get it and uploaded the skirt twice, but i don´t know how to remove it...
