Something to do with all that packing material you get in the post ;)

This is my very first how-to upload on Cut out & keep :) I did do a search for a similar how-to but couldn't find one exactly like this so hope I didn't miss one :) We get a lot of stiff cardboard packing material through the post which we re-cycle but I just thought I'd make something fun out of it instead!

Description

This is my very first how-to upload on Cut out & keep :) I did do a search for a similar how-to but couldn't find one exactly like this so hope I didn't miss one :) We get a lot of stiff cardboard packing material through the post which we re-cycle but I just thought I'd make something fun out of it instead!

Instructions

  1. Small imag0444 1295897942

Find a nice piece of stiff Cardboard - I used the flap of this packet.

  2. Small imag0446 1295898098

Cut a piece of card that is long enough to wrap around the widest part of your hand & a bit extra for overlapping

  3. Small imag0449 1295898409

Wrap the piece of card around the widest part of your hand, hold in place & slip off your hand

  4. Small imag0450 1295898538

Staple the Card together in at least 2 places to form the base of your bracelet. You could just as easily use glue but I like the security of a good staple ;)

  5. Small imag0441 1295898829

Get your chosen fabric or Ribbon - I used a random top I picked up in a shop sale

  6. Small imag0453 1295898963

Measure the outside of your bracelet - mine was about 9inches

  7. Small imag0443 1295899097

Cut a long length of fabric - I actually just chopped the whole hem off the top to get a nice edge :)

  8. Small imag0455 1295899207

Make sure you end up with a piece of fabric at least 4 times the lenth of your bracelet - my bracelet was 9inches so I have a 36inch piece of fabric. (You should measure this before cutting - I took the photo at the wrong point!)

  9. Small imag0456 1295899702

Glue one end of your fabric to the outside of the Bracelet at an angle - this will give you the nice diagonal direction of the wrapping you will be doing

  10. Small imag0458 1295899904

Wrap the fabric around the Bracelet putting a line of glue under each wrap - I put the glue on the outside of the bracelet in this picture but you may prefer to put the glue on the inside of the bracelet to prevent any glue showing through if you have thin fabric... Keep wrapping at a diagonal angle till you run out of fabric

  11. Small imag0459 1295900119

Place glue at the end of you fabric & glue to the inside of your bracelet - you may have to cut a little bit of fabric off the end to make it lie on the inside of the bracelet :)

  12. Small imag0460 1295900247

(Please excuse the messy glue in this picture!) Depending on the glue you have used you may want to just pop a clip/peg over the final flap of fabric whilst the glue dries

  13. Small imag0461 1295900456

    Ta-da! You're all done!

  14. Small imag0468 1295900525

This is the ribbon version I made - It's even easier as you don't have to cut a long straight length of fabric - just measure your ribbon like in step 8 & follow the rest of the steps :)

All finished :) Thanks for stopping by & reading my first how-to - hope you have fun making these too :)
