I love those cute print composition notebooks, but I can never find one I just LOVE. So I made my own!

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Fabric
  • Paint Brush
  • Mod Podge
  • Composition Notebook

Steps (9 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

Start with your notebook. Mine is from the Dollar Tree and had "Teacher Notebook" written on it. I glued down some white paper so the uglyness wouldn't show through the fabric.

  2. 2

Lay notebook on the wrong side of the fabric. Make sure there is enough fabric to fold over the edges. The Fat Quarters you can buy in the fabric department are perfect for this project.

  3. 3

Brush glue onto the cover and fold the fabric over. Pull the fabric tight so no bubles pop up.

  4. 4

Flip the book over and do the same to the back cover. Don't forget to put some glue on the spine!

  5. 5

Open up the notebook and cut the fabric aroung the edges to about an inch in width. Cut the corners of the fabric into a wide "V" shape.

  6. 6

Find the seam where the paper is sewn into the book and cut a very narrow "V" right at it.

  7. 7

Glue the edges in like so. I do the long side then the top and bottom of the book. You can do whatever works for you. Make sure the fabric is tight!

  8. 8

Brush a thin layer of glue onto the cover and pull the first sheet of paper over. Smooth out any bubbles.

    Repeat on the back cover.

  9. 9

Round out the corners again any you're done! You can mod podge the cover for protection, but I like the feel of the fabric as is.

If the cover starts to cutl as it's drying, just put it under a stack of heavy books. It will flatten it out again in no time!
