Every year I make a Halloween skirt. This year I decided to make one with an eye ball patch! Using felt I made this cute patch to go on a pencil skirt I had made. Use a mirror to look at your own eyes so that you can figure out where to put the highlights and where to draw in details with your sharpies. It was super easy and super fun!
Use your Olfa Circle Cutter (or make yourself a circle template using plates, cups, or anything else you can find that have different sized circles) and cut out: - piece of white felt approximately 6 inches across - piece of black felt approximately 5.25 inches across - piece of felt for the eye (mine was purple) approximately 5 inches across - another piece of black felt approximately 2.5 inches across - tiny white circles about half an inch.
Take the large white and large black pieces of felt. Pin the black piece onto the center of the white piece. Sew using black thread.
Now take the eye ball colored piece (mine was purple) and pin it to the center of the black piece. Sew it using the same color thread as the eye ball color.
Add details by drawing lines with your colored sharpie from the center of the circle to the outside of the circle. Be super careful not to get any marks on the white felt!
If you want more details add more lines with another color!
Now take the remaining black circle and pin it to the center of the eyeball circle. Sew it to the entire piece using black thread.
Take your little white circles (I used 3). These will be your highlights. I used my handy dandy mirror to look at my own eyes to help me place the highlights in a realistic spot. Then carefully pin and sew them on. It might be easiest to hand sew the highlights on since they are so small.
Hold up your eye onto the piece of clothing you want to attach it too. Make sure it is in a good spot before you sew it on! Pin it to the piece.
Using white thread I set my sewing machine to a zig zag stitch and sewed all the way around the large white circle.
I added some lace to my pencil skirt since the white of the eye needed to be balanced with something else white. After that I cut all the loose threads and PRESTO a cute eyeball skirt just in time for Halloween!
