I play fashion icon. And this dress really caught my attraction. It looks really simply but so pretty. So I thought of making one and also share it with the world. I hope you all like this project and enjoy making one.

Take the fabric you'll use for the top and fold it in four. Now take a dress that fits you perfect (It shouldn't be flexible). Now draw along the arms and body according to your dress. The dress shouldn't be folded right side out. If you're doing with the right side out keep at least 1.5-2 inches extras for sewing. Cut out the pieces according to the drawing.
Now take only the front part. If you want the front neck to be larger than the back then cut it to make it larger. Prepare your neck. Learn how to prepare the neck from the link below. http://grainlinestudio.com/2012/02/15/sewing-tutorial-getting-flat-bias-necklines/
Now take the bottom piece and fold it in four. Then put the bottom of your dress over it. And then do as same as you did on Step:2. Cut out the pieces.
Join the top and bottom. And sew the shoulders together.
Here's a Pattern for the sleeves.
If you want to attach sleeves then take the fabric you want to use for your sleeves and fold it in half. Then put the top piece over the fabric as shown in the picture. And draw along the arms. Cut out the pieces.
These are the materials you need for this project. For the top you need black and white striped fabrics and for bottom navy blue or marine blue. You can use other colors if you want. But since its a sailor dress blue is the perfect color.
Sew the sleeves with the dress. After attaching sleeves to both arms sew the sides of the dress. There you go the Empire Waist Sailor Dress is READY!
