Embroidery Loop Dreamcatcher

DIY Idea, Embroidery Loop Dreamcatcher

About

Many years ago when Nelson and I met he gave me a huge dreamcatcher. I am ashamed to admit it but I hated it. Not only did I not believe in what it was supposed to do but I wasn't planning on putting it up on my wall. After a while it got misplaced and forgotten about. I am sorry my love! I do regret this now.

So I decided to make a couple of dreamcatchers that really represent me. Come along to see how I did it.

You Will Need (5 things)

  • Decorations (feather etc)
  • Glue
  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Paint
  • Cotton Thread

Steps (4 steps, 40 minutes)

  1. 1

At first I painted my embroidery loops applying two coats of acrylic paint on the "visible" parts.

  2. 2

Then I used a cotton thread to loop around the base (inner loop). These directions were really helpful for me.

  3. 3

Continue all the way to the center. Once you are done weaving it's time to insert the inner loop into an outer loop and decorate your dreamcatcher. I glued two little birdies onto it and suspended three feathers on a cotton thread. Your can see the photos above. Typically you would use leather cord but I wanted to make it my own.

And for the second one I simply inserted one feather into the web. I like how simple it looks.
