I got this idea from a post from the Guardian website. I made it for my boyfriend's Mum, now I want it or want to give it to my mum!

Get a plain, jute shopping bag, mine is from Tesco, can sew over the ladybird design. Then design your pattern on a piece of paper, just a rough idea - can always create as you go along.
To begin I cut out the leaf templates and sewed them on using a simple stitch.
Next cut out the flowers, I simply made petals and sewed around them in various stitches.
I used a combination of chain stitch, lazy daisy stitch, fern stitch and straight stitch. check out http://www.needlenthread.com for videos on sewing techniques.
The next step is just to use your creativity and sew things like buttons and beads on.
And then ta da you've created a lovely eco friendly shopping bag!
