Instructions

  1. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190714 p1020558amended2

    Gather your awesome materials!

  2. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190722 p1020577amended2

Position your design on your notebook and tape it down so it’s secure

  3. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190739 p1020585amended

Using a darning needle and following the lines of your design, poke holes through the notebook cover, spacing each about 3-4mm apart…

  4. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190801 p1020590amended

…and keep going until you’ve outlined your whole design. Remember to try not to make the holes too big as they will open up when you sew.

  5. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190847 p1020593amended

Carefully peel your paper and sticky tape off, and you’re ready to begin sewing!

  6. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190909 p1020596amended

Separate your thread – you’ll want three strands for a medium-sized notebook, two for a smaller one…

  7. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190919 p1020598amended

…you can even mix thread colours if you want a mottled or multi-coloured effect.

  8. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190932 p1020601amended

Starting from the back, bring your needle through, then back again, to make your first stitch.

  9. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 190951 p1020603amended

Using a backstitch, follow the lines you’ve made and connect the dots! Remember to keep your paper design close to hand so you can check you’re following the right lines.

  10. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 191048 p1020610amended2

    …keep going, you’re nearly there!

  11. Small 113626 2f2016 03 07 191110 p1020620amended
