NEEDLES: US 1 (2.25 mm) straight needles or size you need to obtain correct gauge GAUGE Approximately 12 stitches = 1" (2.5 cm) in pattern Because this bookmark is bordered with moss sts it doesn't curl like a simple knitted bookmark would. Instructions

  1. Cast on 15 stitches, leaving a 6" tail. Before starting pattern, knit 3 rows in moss stitch: K1 *(P1, K1)*repeat to end Row 1: K1, P1, K1, K2tog, K2, yo, K1, yo, K2, K2tog, K1, P1, K1. Rows 2,4 &6: K1, P1, K1, P9, K1, P1, K1. Row 3: K1, P1, K1, K2tog, K1, yo, K3, yo, K1, K2tog, K1, P1, K1. Row 5: K1, P1, K1, K2tog, yo, K5, yo, K2tog, K1, P1, K1. Repeat Rows 1-6 thirteen more times.

  2. For a rectangular bookmark, end on Row 5 of pattern and bind off in purl. ****For a bookmark with a triangular end continue pattern: With fifteen sts still on needle, ready to start knitting a right side row, Row 1: K1, P1, K1, ssk, K5, K2tog, K1, P1, K1. (13 sts) Row 2: K1, P1, K1, P7, K1, P1, K1. Row 3: K1, P1, K1, ssk, K3, K2tog, K1, P1, K1. (11 sts) Row 4: K1, P1, K1, P5, K1, P1, K1. Row 5: K1, P1, K1, ssk, K1, K2tog, K1, P1, K1.
