My husband really wanted to carve a giant pumpkin for Halloween and we finally found some to buy about 40 miles away. We bought two for $25 (they were having a buy one get one free sale. Score!) The giant punpkin was not hard to carve at all. You will need a good strong serrated knife to take the top off. Our top was almost 6" thick at some points. The rest of the pumpkin was carved with regular knives and those safety knives they sell in pumpkin carving kits. Save those seeds and grow your own next year! ;) Extremepumpkins.com has a picture of a pumpkin lit with a road flare so we decided to make this one the electrocution pumpkin with the addition of some left over 4th of July sparklers. It was pretty fricken awesome. The road flare really made the pumpkin glow. They only burn for about 15mins though so if you want to keep it going you have to replace the flare.
