• 

  Step 1

  Slice the onions

  Step 2

  Heat 2 tbsps of oil in a pan

• 

  Step 3

  Add the onions

• 

  Step 4

  Add the salt pepper and the garlic powder

• 

  Step 5

  Caramelize to your preference and transfer it to a bowl.

  Keep it aside while we work with the rest of our sandwich

• 

  Step 6

  Now for the "nest"

• 

  Step 7

  Punch holes into the slices of bread with a cookie cutter or simply cut a square or a round shaped hole with a pair of kitchen scissors

  Step 8

  Take one more tblsps of oil in the same pan and place one slice of bread in it

• 

  Step 9

  Now carefully break open an egg and let some of the white drop into the hole

• 

  Step 10

  Gently break the yolk ...

  Step 11

  ...and let some of that dribble into the hole as well.

  (If this is too much, just break the egg in a bowl, beat it senseless and pour half of the egg into the hole.)

  Step 12

  Keep the other half of the egg in a bolw.

• 

  Step 13

  Spread some of the onions over this

• 

  Step 14

  Place the slice of cheese

• 

  Step 15

  Add some more onions

• 

  Step 16

  Sandwich it with the second slice of bread.

  Press it down gently so that it sticks to the cheese which will soon start to melt

  Step 17

  pour the other half of your egg into the hole on top

• 

  Step 18

  Let it set. The bottom half should be getting firm by now..

  Flip it! Mmmmm.. Nice and golden....

• 

  Step 20

  Do the same with the second pair of bread slices and egg.

  Cut it diagonally ...and out comes the cheese strings.. Enjoy!
