I've become a bit attached to my onsies and love wearing them to bed. The only problem is is that its getting warmer now so I need to find myself a cooler alternative for the summer. I came up with the idea of making myself a few playsuits. EDIT: What I forgot to add was that if your body shape is wider at the top than across the hips you will need to make the top half wider to give your bust room.

I came up with the idea of making myself a few playsuits. Take 2 XL mens T-shirts and lay out on ground or work surface. One t-shirt will make up the bottom half of your playsuit and the other will make up the top, so choose which you'd like to use for each.
For the t-shirt that you've decided to make the top of your playsuit, cut the top half off so that you just have a tube of fabric.
Now using your second t-shirt (the one you want to make the bottom half out of) lay it out on the floor. Fold the t-shirt in half (lengthways). Take your shorts and fold these in half along the seams. It should look a little like a lowercase 'R'. Lay these on top of your fabric and draw around the shape with chalk. Keeping the fabric folded so that you have four layers, cut out your shape.
These are the two legs once they are cut out. Now this bit is tricky to explain so bare with me. This bit is slightly tricky to explain so bare with me and feel free to ask questions. The two curved, vertical edges will become the body and gusset part of the shorts and the two short, straight edges will become the legs.
Open out both legs and lay them on top of each other. Pin the two curved edges together and stitch.
Now shift the fabric so that the newly stitched seams become the centre line and pin and stitch the 'v' shaped crotch and legs.
Now lay your tube next to your shorts. Make sure the edge that started life as the bottom hem of the t-shirt is at the top as you will be using that hem to thread your elastic through. Pin and stitch the top and bottom of your playsuit together.
Using a safety pin thread your elastic through the top band of your playsuit. You want the elastic to go comfortably round the top of your bust and hold your playsuit up. Once you have done this tie the elastic securely and stitch over the ends, so that they can't come undone.
Trim any loose threads and enjoy your new summer playsuit.
