One of the easiest DIY projects we've done, but made a huge impact on our wall. You can pick up decorative moulding for a few dollars at your local home store. It comes in many sizes and designs, so it's just up to you. You can use a wider moulding for a deeper shelf.

Cut your moulding to whatever size you would like to best fit your space.
After making sure it is level, attach it to your wall with a few nails. Records don't weigh much, so 3 long finishing nails work fine. (Optional) Put a dab of white paint or nail polish over the nail heads, to hide them.
Put a strip of double sided tape down the moulding, to give some grip so the records stay put. If you have silicone caulk handy, you could use that instead (which is what we did).
