okay! so first things first. take your bust waist and hip measurements mine were bust :38 waist:32 hips :40 mine are all within about 8 inches so i took my waist measurement and subtracted an inch (no seam allowance necessary yay!) also i measured how long i wanted my dress to be :D
find the wrong side of your fabric. i took a picture of this but you cant tell the difference in it at all i had to look really close but find it and turn the fabric so it faces you. you will make all your markings on this side of the fabric.
so i wanted to make my dress 28 inches but i was afraid of it getting shorter when it stretched sideways (please. don't ask) so i measured down 33 inches and marked it with a green crayon you can barely see it in the picture but its there.
now measure sideways your width measurement. mine was 31. make sure your measuring and marking the direction that is stretching around your body measure this 3-5 times down the length of your dress to ensure you cut a straight line.
okay if your using striped fabric like i am you definetly cannot ignore this step. cut down across your top stripe to help ensure a straight line
now its time to cut out your dress!!!! cut around all the marks you made. mine came out almost a perfect square
okay now line up the long sides of your dress and start sewing. if your using a machine congrats pin sew it up real quick but use the stitch for like lingerie it looks like a zig zag stitch but some of the zigs are bigger than the zags if your hand sewing like i did do it the way i did in the picture try not to pull the stitches to tight but don't pull them too loose either.
cut i diagonal line on both sides of the edges you just sewn (sewed?) so that it doesn't stick out
try it on! mine came out to long so i folded the top over a bit. but on the bright side if i fold it in half it works as a tube top or a skirt! yay!
this is the finished version folded over. since its stretch fabric it curls at the raw edges and you don't need to hem it
