Description

This is a great beginner Wire-Wrapping project. It’s super easy so just about anyone can make it. There are so many ways to customize this popular design too, whether it be with different color “eggs”, different color wire, different number of “eggs”, or adding charms. You’ll be making tons of these for your friends and family in no time!

Instructions

  1. Small 2020 04 08 185551 64cd2ae3 c212 46c6 b203 d6dda515870d

    Gather your supplies.

  2. Small 2020 04 08 185658 171d9c80 1075 47fb bf55 a3e8a3ae11c8

Add a bend to your wire about 6-7 inches from one end. String your glass pearl beads onto the wire until they hit the bend. Note: You may also choose to use 2, 4, or 5 glass pearl beads depending on whom you’re giving the necklace to. For example, if you’re giving it to your mother and she has 4 children, you may want to use 4 beads. =)

  3. Small 2020 04 08 185802 476ca64d 5517 4181 8dd6 a24ddfcbc045

Twist the wire together as shown.

  4. Small 2020 04 08 185846 a6af3d98 5c36 4024 8ed9 a078fcd84bd1

Wrap the short end of the wire around the 3 beads in a messy fashion until you reach the end. Tuck that end of the wire into the “nest”.

  5. Small 2020 04 08 190000 7922fd9a 4d67 4276 8f57 73a4adf9808e

Start loosely wrapping the remaining wire around your beads in a general nest shape.

  6. Small 2020 04 08 190059 c15f6162 125b 41ec 8e48 6d4680724904

Continue to wrap the wire in a loose, messy fashion, making sure to cover the bottom of the beads too. Feel free to add bends or kinks to the wire from time to time.

  7. Small 2020 04 08 190111 766d7e53 2d94 474b ac69 7734318f30f6

Stop wrapping when you have about 6 inches or less of wire left.

  8. Small 2020 04 08 190123 55acf9e0 db18 446a 9b9c 9f69f48553dc

Thread the end of the wire from the front to the back, between the nest and the glass pearl beads, and pull the wire all the way through.

  9. Small 2020 04 08 190145 1bb23dcc 3e50 4d41 b16b ce22908eed02

Repeat Step 8 a few times going around the nest.

  10. Small 2020 04 08 190157 66b89abf 6d4c 4b88 b0a4 64d16a0980ff

After you’ve repeated Step 8 a few times, going around the nest completely, you can thread any remaining wire back into the nest.

  11. Small 2020 04 08 190625 de27235d 284c 4a29 b272 3d5c2adc70a0

It is okay if you end up with some tiny loops or bends in your wire while tucking in the excess. This will just add to the charm of the finished nest.

  12. Small 2020 04 08 190724 0ee286bc 9972 4349 ab6e a4d2f5c3742f

Be sure to tuck the very end of the wire into the nest so that it doesn’t poke out.

  13. Small 2020 04 08 190742 6d253655 a607 4127 b8e9 432b3b157888

This is what the nest will look like at the moment.

  14. Small 2020 04 08 190902 c976f9ce 6257 41b1 b340 0c4ae67ba8e7

Use your needle-nose or round-nose pliers to add little bends and kinks throughout the nest. This will make it look more like a real bird’s nest.

  15. Small 2020 04 08 190914 83a8e3ea f935 4252 9d7e ec57e7d56a78

Here is what my finished nest looks like. Note: If you want your nest to be a bit thicker, simply add more length to your starting wire.

  16. Small 2020 04 08 190926 fd308d04 21fb 4518 887e 9d3c27728122

Add a jump ring to one of the bends.

  17. Small 2020 04 08 191223 f4f5a9d2 3b6d 49c0 8b2c e06e3d55f8a1

String your finished Bird’s Nest Pendant onto a necklace chain of your choice and you’re done!

  18. Small 2020 04 08 191300 62bd82a9 9db9 417b 88e0 c1203f2115c0

Optional: Add a little Bird charm to the necklace chain as well to accent your Bird’s Nest Pendant!

  19. Small 2020 04 08 191334 b0c96148 b4a8 43a5 8e3c e93ea57a279d

Optional: You could also use a bird connector like the one shown here, to accent your Bird’s Nest Pendant!
