Ch 16. Sc in second ch and each ch across (15 sc) Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Sc in first sc. *Sc in opening below next sc. Sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. Sc in opening below first sc. *Sc in next sc. Sc in opening below next sc. Repeat from * across. Repeat last two rows until piece is desired length. Ch 1, turn, work dec over next two sc. Work across row in pattern, ending with dec over last two sc. Repeat last row until there are 7 sc. Ch 1, turn. Work dec over first two sc, sc in next sc, ch 2, skip next sc, sc in next sc, work dec over last two sc. Ch 1, turn. Work dec over first two sc, work 2 sc in ch-2 loop, dec over last two sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Fold piece so that the straight edge sits just below the bottom corner of triangular flap. Using contrasting or complimentary yarn, work a row of sc around edges of purse starting at bottom right corner, leaving bottom edge unworked. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Sew button to purse to correspond with button hole on flap.
