MAKING THE BASIC WREATH The photos show contrasting colors for clarity. To make the basic deco mesh wreath, you’ll need a 16" dia. wire wreath frame, a 10 yard roll of 21" wide mesh, matching color chenille stems, and a pair of scissors.
Twist 22 chenille stems around the wreath form, alternating between the inner and outer rings and evenly spacing the stems on the rings.
To make measuring easier, mark the work surface with tape pieces 16" apart. Gather the mesh end.
Place the gathered end over a chenille stem. Twist the stem to secure.
Measure 16" from the secured area and gather.
Keeping the gathers as straight as possible
Place the gathered area over the next chenille stem. Twist the stem to secure.
Continue measuring, gathering, and securing loops until there are only 6 chenille stems without mesh loops (photo 8). Check to make sure you have enough mesh for the remaining 6 loops. If there is not enough for 16" loops, adjust the last 6 loops to be a bit smaller. Once the wreath is finished, you won’t be able to tell the difference.
Here’s the finished basic deco mesh wreath. Fluff and arrange the loops until the wreath is circular and has a pretty shape.
MAKING SINGLE, DOUBLE, & QUAD LOOPS The photos show contrasting colors for clarity. Loops are an excellent accent to the mesh wreath. Wire-edged ribbon and 51/2"w deco mesh make beautiful loops.
To make the first loop, gather the ends, measure the loop size as specified in the project instructions, and gather.
Bring the gathers together. If you are making a single loop, secure the loop with a chenille stem and trim from the roll.
For a double loop, repeat the measuring and gathering to make the second loop. Trim the loops from the roll. Secure both loops with a chenille stem.
Attach the loop to the wreath by twisting the loop stem to a wreath stem.
Easter wreath Use the lavender mesh to make a Basic Wreath. Use chenille stems to attach the cross to the wreath, gluing as necessary. Hot glue the lilies, buds, and branch stems to the wreath, using chenille stems as necessary.
