This is a great Easter Cake.

It is easy to make.

You could decorate as you wish but using the chocolate eggs makes it super easy.

You Will Need (21 things)

  • Cake
  • 2 cup Sugar
  • 1 3/4 cup Plain Flour
  • 3/4 cup Cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate Of Soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 Eggs
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 3/4 cup Water Hot
  • Chocolate malt icing

  • 3/4 cup Malt Powder
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Butter Room temp
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cup Icing Sugar
  • Chocolate Eggs
  • Chocolate Sprinkles

Steps (13 steps, 120 minutes)

    Heat oven 350/ 180 degrees.

    Make the cake...

    Mix all dry ingredients together.

    Mix all wet ingredients together except the water.

    Combine wet & dry ingredients.

    Mix to combine.

    Pour water into batter & mix through.

    Pour into cake tins.

    Bake for 35-40 mins. Until cooked through.

    Remove from oven & cool completely.

    Make the icing...

    Place cream & malt powder in a bowl.

    Stir to a smooth thick paste.

    In a bowl combine the butter & Cocoa.

    Add 1 cup icing sugar.

    Stir to combine.

    Add the cream/malt paste & vanilla.

    Stir through.

    Add the remaining icing sugar ( 1/2 a cup at a time ) until you get a nice, thick, smooth icing.

    Stack the cake using the icing between layers.

    Fully coat the outside of the cake with icing.

    Add chocolate sprinkles to the sides.

    Pipe a nest or other decorations on top of the cake.

    Decorate with chocolate eggs.
