Description

The colour choice is very important for the look of this dress. In black, you’ll have a cocktail dress that will make you the centre of attention at a party. Earth colours make it a pretty garment for any occasion. SIZES S (M, L) FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Length: 82 (86, 90) cm / 22 (22, 23) in Chest: 80 (90, 100) cm / 31 (35, 39) in Hips: 82 (92, 102) cm / 32 (36, 40) in Sleeve length: 14 (15, 16) cm / 5 (6, 6) in GAUGE 25 sts and 21 rows in basic pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in. Adjust hook size to obtain correct gauge if necessary.

Instructions

  1. BASIC PATTERN Row 1: Ch 4 (= 1 tr + ch 1), skip 2 sts, 1 tr in next st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 tr in next st; rep from * across, with last st in top of tch; turn. Row 2: Ch 3, skip 1st ch loop, 1 tr in next ch loop, go back and work 1 tr in skipped st (= crossed tr), *1 tr in next (empty) ch loop, go back and work 1 in in previous ch loop; rep from * to last ch loop, 1 tr in tch; turn (= the crossed tr encompasses the tr of previous row). Row 3: Ch 1, 1 dc in 1st st, dc across with 1 dc in tch; turn. Repeat Rows 1-3. Panel A Work Lace Square—Variation (see page 53). Panel B Foundation Row: Work tr across. Then work Open Blocks (see page 54). Panel C Row 1: Ch 3, skip 1st st, 2 tr, ch 1, *3 tr, ch 1; rep from * across, ending with 3 tr; turn. Row 2: Ch 4, *1 dc in ch loop, ch 3; rep from * to last st and end with 1 dc in top of tch; turn. Repeat Rows 1 and 2.

  2. BACK Ch 131 (141, 151). Beginning in 2nd ch from hook, work 4 rows dc = 130 (140, 150) dc. Turn every row with ch 1. Now work in Basic Pattern for 10 (11, 11) cm / 4 (4, 4) in. Next, work 2 rows htr, then 6 rows Panel A, followed by 2 rows htr. Work in Basic Pattern for 9 (10, 10) cm / 3 (4, 4) in, decreasing 1 st at each side on every 4th row 6 times = 118 (128, 138) sts rem. Work 2 rows in htr and then 5 rows Panel B (there should be 5 open blocks in length), and end with 2 rows htr, decreasing 1 st at each side on the last row = 116 (126, 136) sts rem.

  3. Small 105519 2f2014 11 12 133948 img 4142

Now work in Basic Pattern for 9 cm / 3 in, decreasing 1 st at each side on every 4th row until 92 (102, 112) sts rem. Work 2 rows in htr and then 9 rows in Panel C. Place a marker at each side in the centre row of Panel C = waist. The piece should now measure approx. 45 (46, 46) cm / 17 (18, 18) in. Work 2 rows htr and then work the rest of the back in Basic Pattern, increasing 1 st at each side on every 6th row 4 times = 100 (110, 120) sts. Continue without further shaping until piece measures 21 (22, 23) cm / 8 (8, 9) in from marker at waist. Armholes: Sl st over the 1st 5 sts of row and then work in pattern to the last 5 sts; turn = 90 (100, 110) sts. Now dec 1 st at each side on every other row 4 times = 82 (92, 102) sts rem. Continue without shaping until armhole measures 17 (19, 21) cm / 6 (7, 8) in. Leave the centre 46 sts unworked for neck and work each side separately. Work 2 rows over the 18 (20, 22) sts at each side. Cut yarn and fasten off.

  4. Small 105519 2f2014 11 12 133959 img 4197

FRONT Work as for back until armhole measures 5 (5, 6) in / 13 (14, 15) cm. Leave the centre 36 sts unworked for neck. Work each side separately. Decrease 1 st on every row at neck edge until 18 (20, 22) sts rem. Continue until armhole is same length as on back. Cut yarn and fasten off. Work the other side of neck the same way, reversing shaping.

  5. SLEEVES Ch 73 (75, 77). Beginning in 2nd ch from hook, work 4 rows dc = 72 (74, 76) dc. Change to Basic Pattern and, at the same time, inc 1 st at each side on every other row to 84 (86, 90) sts. Continue in pattern until sleeve is approx. 14 (16, 18) cm / 5 (6, 7) in long, ending on same pattern row as last row before armhole on front/back. Sleeve Cap: Sl st over 1st 5 sts, work in pattern to last 5 sts; turn = 74 (76, 80) sts rem. Now decrease 1 st at each side on every row until 58 (60, 62) sts rem. Next, *sl st over the 1st 4 sts, work to last 4 sts; turn; rep from * 2 more times. Cut yarn and fasten off.

Work back and forth in htr, ending every row with 1 sl st in the top of tch; turn. Begin next row with ch 2 (tch). Count out from the shoulder and inc 1 st by working 2 htr into the same st, inc with 3 sts between a total of 3 times in each side of shoulder = 12 sts increased.
