Description

This is an easy quilt pattern I found online. This looks really intricate and difficult, but it's simple. Let me show you! Looking back i wish i had used more colors, or simplified it...it's a little loud. But I am still very proud of if. Labor of love for my baby cousin.

Instructions

  1. Small slide1 1264510815

Lets start! Cut 3.5" strips! To replicate mine, cut one color, 4 black strips, 4 white strips. Sew 3 strips together: black white black. Then the second large strip: white blue white. And the last: another black white black.

  2. Small slide1 1264511199

From those, cut strips 3.5" wide

  3. Small 9ptcv1 1264511491

Sew together into 9 patch(Yes! you can use this strip piece method to make a simple nine patch quilt). Arg! i am just now noticing the graphic colors don't match the photo! whoops!

  4. Small 9ptcv2 1264511719

Now take out your rotary blade, ruler and cutting mat and cut down the center. Turn mat and cut down middle again, as shown in photo.

  5. Small 9ptcv3 1264511871

Now flip 2 of the squares color pointing out. Are you still with me? Pin and sew, top 2 together, and lower 2.

  6. Small 9ptcv4 1264512120

Pin and sew, top 2 together, and lower 2. And then the top to lower...and there you have your fabulous patch!

It does take more work to make this than a regular nine patch, but it looks so intricate! People will think you are some world class quilter! With decades of experience!

I also used the blue in the border to tie it together. I didn't own enough blue fabric so i put in some pink with blue birds. I hope my aunt/uncle don't mind: they requested blue!

In case you are wondering, I used 2 different squares to achieve this look. To copy it just switch white and black (ex. 1st strip:wh, blk, white, ...you get it). I also quilted it, starting at a corner and stitching diagonally through all squares. Only after quilting it did I finish the edges of blanket. Happy stitching and I wish you no seam ripping! ps. questions? contact me.
