Doubled Sided Cowl

Infinity cowl made from two different fabrics to create two different looks

About

This cowl was made from scraps so you can make yours wider or longer if you want but the minimum width you need is about 1/3 of a yard.

The cool part about this cowl is the two different fabrics you can use on either side. When you wear it you can have only one side showing or twist them to reveal both sides.

I'm using knit fabric but you could also make this with wovens. If you're sewing with knits be sure to use a zig zag stitch or a serger.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Sewing Machine
  • Matching Thread
  • 1 yd each of two different types of Knit Fabric
  • Hand Sewing Needle

Steps (5 steps, 20 minutes)

  1. 1

Cut a rectangle from each of your fabrics measuring 12" x 30". The grainline doesn't really matter in this case.

  2. 2

Pin the long sides right sides together and stitch. I used my serger with a 1/4" seam allowance.

  3. 3

Pin the shorter ends right sides together, matching the fabrics and stitch leaving about a 4" hole.

  4. 4

Turn the cowl right side out.

  5. 5

Slip stitch the hole closed by hand.
