You Will Need (10 things)

  • Wood
  • Tiles
  • Cement Board
  • Screw(s)
  • Combi Drill
  • Adhesive
  • Silicone
  • Melamine
  • Concrete
  • Hammer

Steps (9 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

To make the sides of the table, you will need to cut some cement board into 4 even sizes. Cement board is ideal for outdoor use as it's waterproof!

  2. 2

You then want to cut four lengths of timber to the same size and attach these to the cement boards to create a square. Just use screws and affix through the front of the cement board.

  3. 3

Once you have a solid square frame, you can then add tile adhesive to each side, one at a time, and lay the tiles over the top. If you're using your table outdoor, like mine, then just make sure your tiles are suitable for outdoor use.

  4. 4

Once all four sides are done, you should end up with a hollow tiled box, like this.

  5. 5

To make the concrete top, you'll need to cut four more pieces of wood, the same size as the table and you'll need to screw them onto a melamine board.

  6. 6

Add silicone between each timber and the melamine board, and the corners as well. We need to make sure when we pour the concrete into here, it won't seep out anywhere!

  7. 7

Once the silicone has set, make sure to place your melamine board (and timber) onto a level surface. You can then pour in the concrete. I'm using a white variety here!

  8. 8

Gently hit the side of the board to release any air bubbles in the concrete. You'll see them pop up on the surface - keep doing this until it stops.

  9. 9

Once the concrete has set, you can remove the wood to release a solid piece of concrete. Simply place this onto the tiled table base and voila one table! The concrete is pretty heavy, so you won't need to secure it into place.
