You Will Need (6 things)

  • Fabric
  • Scissors
  • Elastic
  • Needle And Thread
  • Safety Pin
  • Pins

Steps (11 steps, 45 minutes)

  1. 1

Gather all of your materials. You'll need some fabric of your choice, scissors, needle and thread, a safety pin, pins, and some elastic.

*Tip: You can find most of this stuff at the dollar store, and if you want to save money on fabric, you can use old clothes or scraps you probably have lying around the house.

  2. 2

Cut your fabric into a long rectangle. Mine was 12cm x 45cm. I wouldn't recommend going any smaller than this, but feel free to make it a bit bigger. It really depends on how much hair you have.

  3. 3

Cut it out once you're happy with the size.

  4. 4

Fold fabric in half length wise, with the bad side of the fabric facing up.

  5. 5

Use some pins to pin the fabric in place.

  6. 6

Sew along the edge, taking the pins out one by one as you go along. Once you're done, inverse the fabric, so the good side is facing up.

  7. 7

Measure out some elastic. I found it best to stretch my elastic from one edge of my fabric to the other. It ended up being about half the length of my fabric.

  8. 8

Put your safety pin at the very end of your elastic band.

  9. 9

Using your safety pin to help keep track of your elastic, carefully pull your elastic through the fabric tunnel, making sure that you're holding onto one end of the elastic the entire time. Once there is elastic peeking through both ends of the fabric tunnel, sew those two ends of elastic together.

  10. 10

Take the rough edges of your fabric, tuck them in a bit to create a smooth outer edge, and then sew the edges together.

    Enjoy your finished scrunchie(s)!
