I got this from a ThreadBangers tutorial. You may see the time for this project and think, "HOLY MOLARS!" But a lot of it is wait time and drying time. Active time is about an hour depending on how detailed your image is.

Description

I got this from a ThreadBangers tutorial. You may see the time for this project and think, "HOLY MOLARS!" But a lot of it is wait time and drying time. Active time is about an hour depending on how detailed your image is.

Instructions

  1. Small dsc02124 1270777546

Gather materials. For material, I used a kids beach sarong I found at a thrift store ($1.99) Print the image you would like to use and size it to fit your hoop. (I used irfanview)

  2. Small dsc02125 1270777691

Set the fabric on the inner hoop and tape your image to the back. Trace the image onto your fabric, I, however, didn't, Can't remember why.. xD

  3. Small dsc02127 1270777855

Paint with the Mod Podge in the negative space. This takes forever to dry, you can use a hair dryer to help speed it up. It's ok if it looks a little wonky, you can touch up with your fabric paint after you've printed.

  4. Small dsc02128 1270777888

Place the screen where you would like to print on your garment, I used a onesie. Place a piece of cardboard inside the onesie to prevent bleeding. I used cardboard from a 12 pack of soda. Then using another small piece of cardboard pull the paint over the design. Remove the screen and do whatever touch ups you need.

  5. Small dsc02129 1270778159

Wait for the paint to dry according to the instructions on the bottle, this cannot be sped up.

  6. Small dsc02131 1270778208

Cover your design with a piece of paper from a grocery bag and iron on medium for 3-5 mins to heat set the image. and you're done!! Wash according to the instructions on the fabric paint bottle, (mine says wash garment inside out after 72 hours of applying the fabric paint)
