Diy "No Dye" Tie Dye Beanie
A fun, easy way to jazz up a plain white beanie

About
I saw this rad tie dye beanie at Zumiez the other day that I just had to have, but alas, I was broke. So I decided, why not dye my boring old white beanie? I didn't have any dyes at home, so I used fabric paints and diluted them with water. You may think it would come out stiff and paint-like, but it actually penetrated the fabric just like a dye, and no stiffness! I was very happy with the results and I hope you guys will be too. Enjoy!

Gather all of your materials on your workspace. This does get a bit messy, so if you choose to do this on the floor, cover the floor with a trash bag. ESPECIALLY if you have carpet because fabric paint DOES NOT wash off.

Fabric paint is a bit stiff, so you'll need to dilute it with water. There is no perfect ratio of paint to water, so add more or less depending on how vibrant you want your colors to be. You're gonna want to use a different spray bottle for each color. You can also use squirt bottles if you'd like.
*I used Scribbles brand fabric paint. I love it because it's really thin and doesn't require much water to dilute it. You can find it at any Michaels or AC Moore.

Use any folding technique you'd like for your beanie. I did the bullseye, and you can find more techniques here: http://www.favecrafts.com/Tie-Dye/Tie-Dye-Craft-Projects-from-Tulip
*I do not own the above webpage, nor am I claiming it as my own. This is just where I found different folding techniques*
You can easily find plain white beanies at any Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or a local thrift shop for under $5.

Apply your "dye" to each section and be sure to turn it over and get some on the back side as well. You can alternate your colors any way you'd like, there's no right or wrong!
Once you're done, let the "dye" settle for about half an hour. Then squeeze your beanie over a sink to take out any excess "dye".

Take off the rubber bands to reveal your sweet design! Lay it out to dry, and if your impatient like me, you can use a blow dryer to speed up the process. Now you're done!
