Start by sketching out what you'd like your neon to look like with a marker pen. You could also find a font you like online and print out a design.
Secure a sheet of clear plastic on top of your template using double sided sticky tape.
Buy an EL wire long enough to stretch your design. You can get these for a few dollars online in lots of different colours.
Punch a hole at the start of your design so that you can slip the wire through to the front.
Bend the wire into the shape of your design and use an awl to pierce two holes into the plastic at the top and bottom of the letter.
Cut a small length of matching wire and secure the EL Wire in place to the plastic.
Continue working your way along the designs, bending the EL wire to match the design and then securing in place with then wire.
More complicated designs can be created by punching extra holes through the plastic and wrapping the EL wire around the back. In this design, I had to do this for the a's and the t.
Keep going until you've completed the design and then bring the EL wire back through to the back of the plastic.
Remove the paper template form the back.
Trim away and excess plastic from the outside of your design.
Hang on the wall.
Turn off the lights, turn on your neon and prepare to be amazed!
