I’m addicted to mushrooms: artworks, vintage figurines, real mushrooms… mushroom anything! I came across some adorable wired mushrooms on Etsy and decided that I simply had to do something with them. I had some lengths of green leaf trim and green floristry wire in my craft supplies – so I decided to make a ‘mushroom crown’.
Measure what size you want your crown to be and cut some green wire to that length. Make sure you have enough to wrap around three times. Join the ends of the wire together with some similarly coloured floristry tape or washi tape.
On the opposite side of the taped section, take a mushroom and wrap it around the strands of wire. Where the mushroom wire ends, wrap another mushroom and so on (like making a daisy chain).
Starting at the join of the wire, attach the green leaf trim to the taped section with a little more tape. Weave the leaves in and out of the three strands of wire to bring them together. Continue until you have gone around the crown three or so times.
To finish off, take a small length of wire and secure the leaf trim at the taped section. Arrange your mushrooms so they are bending in different directions and ta-da – one pretty mushroom crown.
